JAMIE OLIVER STUFFED FRENCH TOAST

JAMIE OLIVER STUFFED FRENCH TOAST

I have recently came to the conclusion that Jamie Oliver is my favorite chef. I have tried following many others and enjoyed cooking with their recipes, but there is something about Jamie Oliver that is just extraordinary. It might be the ease with which he cooks, or being a vegetarian I like that he uses a lot of fresh  greens. Or probably the fact that he uses phrases as ‘couple of lugs of olive oil.’ And I ask myself, “seriously! What is a lug?”

So I decided to make Stuffed French Toast from his recipe for a Sunday brunch. The picture on his website looked pretty delicious, so I thought of trying them out.

Serving – 2-3

You Would Need
3 bananas
2 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup almonds
6 slices of wheat bread
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Butter
Powdered sugar

How to Go About it

Cut almonds into thin long slices. Peel and cut bananas into thin, but not too thin, slices (banana slices shouldn’t be thick but should be able to hold a little shape when mixed around).

Mix almonds, banana slices and honey together. Don’t mash them up and ensure that everything is nicely coated with honey.

Divide the mixture equally between 3 slices of bread. Top with 3 other slices to make sandwiches. Do not crowd the edges.jamie oliver stuffed french toast

Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk in milk.

Meanwhile, heat a frying pan on medium flame.
Put around one-third of the egg-milk mix in a flat plate. Dip one sandwich in this mix. Dip each side for about 5 seconds each. You can also spoon some egg-milk mix on the edges if you think they haven’t soaked the liquid.
Put a good amount of butter on the frying pan and fry the sandwich on it. Fry each side for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn slightly golden in color.

French toast is ready. To serve, cut diagonally into half and dust with powdered sugar.

My family loved them, especially when they were hot. They were so gooey and melted right in the mouth. Almonds gave them a good crunch. My daughter takes a long time to finish up her food (as most of the children do! Boy how do they keep chewing and chewing the same bite for minutes!). So even after half and hour, I found that the french toast was super soft and even a little warm from the inside (probably because of the stuffing).
